This month celebrates Couple Appreciation. A quote I once read clearly expresses why we need to acknowledge the value of being a couple. "The best way to appreciate someone is to think ahead and picture life without them." That is one of the key elements found in good romantic films and expressed deeply and beautifully in several Netflix Korean films that I have watched. The scenes made me laugh, smile, and cry. They contained daily challenges, family and career heartache, and most important obstacles that we can all relate to in our everyday lives. When the main characters became a couple, everything shared became less weight, and the desire for shared happiness took center stage. I have learned over the years that you can be a romantic while living in the real world, instead of in a world of fantasy that robs you of living your life. Feeling safe, protected, and loved is about as romantic as you can get. You must be a team player to be a happy couple, and this final quote surprised me with how well it summed up . . . We’re A Team. “Whatever you lack, I got you. We will balance each other out. Minor setback? Guess we’ll make a major comeback. Bad Day? Well, I promise you a better night. You need support? I’ll be your backbone. I’ll keep you motivated and at the top, always. As long as you appreciate me and remain consistent you don’t ever have to doubt my loyalty. You got me. I got us.”
So, for the couples out there, stop and appreciate each other, and for those alone, appreciate how special you are, and when the time is right, you will be recognized by someone who will value you.
